Designing a performance costume, altering a wedding gown or even just hemming a pair of jeans is a collaborative process. Here is how we move from an initial spark of an idea to the final, show-stopping fit.

Step 1: The Initial Spark & Discovery

The process begins when you fill out our [Custom Project Inquiry Form] or book your first consultation. We will connect (via phone or in-person in our Danville studio) to discuss the heart of the project:

The Inspiration: We’ll talk through your colors, theme, style, and any specific requirements (e.g., “It must be durable enough for a tumble pass” or “I need to add sleeves to my mother’s vintage dress”).

The Details: We will cover measurements, your desired completion date, and your budget. There is no obligation to move forward at this step.

Step 2: Design, Materials & Final Quote

After our discussion, we get to work on the specifics. For a custom costume, this includes providing a final design sketch and sourcing your fabrics, appliques, and trim.

The Proposal: Once the design and materials are finalized, we will provide you with a comprehensive, transparent quote. This quote will detail the total cost for design, materials, and labor.

The Approval: After reviewing the proposal, you can choose to approve it and move your project into production. A deposit will be required at this stage to secure your spot in our workshop schedule.

Step 3: Creation, Fittings & Final Stitch

This is where the magic happens! Our experienced seamstresses will meticulously craft your piece, paying careful attention to every detail of the design and fit.

The Fittings: Depending on the project, we may schedule 1-3 fittings to ensure the garment moves with you. This is especially critical for performance wear to guarantee full range of motion.

The Delivery: The final step is your last fitting and pickup. You will leave with a truly unique, expertly crafted piece that fits perfectly and is ready for your special moment or performance.
